Well I have now left the baby home and am writing this from the airport. Yesterday I spent most of the day at the baby home and took Baraka out in the afternoon for some one to one time. As we were walking back to the baby home I saw Rosemary, the pre-school teacher walking homw with only shoe. Apparrently her other one had broken on her way to work and she had an hours walk home. I thought it was no big deal to give her my shoes since I was five minutes from my house, so thats what I did. However, on the way home we had some steet kids throwing rocks at us and then some geese chasing us so I had to pick Baraka up and run!
Yesteday Noah moved from big babies and back to little toddlers, which is fantastic news. This morning I took Noah and Moses (Noah’s twin brother) for a walk and to get some drinks and snacks. Moses was really well behaved but I think the change of environment got to Noah and he threw lots of tantrums. He seemed to calm down again when we got back to the baby home and was happy to give me lots of kisses goodbye.
Some more great news is that there is a new orphanage in Mwanza, Mavuno village is where ten of our oldest children are going to live (maybe as soon as next week). It is not a traditional orphanage but will consist of individual houses, each with a foster mum and dad and nine siblings. It will be self sufficient with a farm, school and medical facilities on sight. It is Amy’s hope that all of the children will be able to live in the same house together. Some of the satff, volunteers and children are going to go over this week to help decorate the houses and so they can see their new home. Other than adoption (which is unlikely for children of this age) Mavuno village is the best option for our children. The children were all told about the move last night and are all brimming with excitement today.
